Carbonyls compounds in aerosol and cloud water at the summit of Mt. Fuji

Department of Chemistry, Kumamoto University

Carbonyl compounds were analyzed from aerosol and cloud water samples. The data analysis is in progress but results for 2017 were considered. The compounds in cloud water were not saturated with gaseous compounds, while concentrations in aerosol water were much higher than those of saturated concentrations. This was because oligomerization and polymerization proceeded in the fine particles. Isoprene, which is main precursor of HCHO, glyoxal and methyl glyoxal, was monitored in 10 min interval and it was found that isoprene concentration became higher in the late afternoon and early evening.
