Mercury (Hg) is a toxic element of global concern. To reduce the environmental risks from Hg, a simple and rapid monitoring system for Hg in the environment is needed. A simple and highly sensitive monitoring method for the detection of Hg gas using a smart logger system by a quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) is described. This new monitoring system allows easy measurement of very low concentrations of Hg and environments. We installed the monitoring system on the Mt. Fuji weather station and are making observations.

Our mission
